Blue Globe at GlobalRx

GLOBALRx was founded in 1996 under the name AIDSRx in response to the absence of many of the US FDA-approved drugs for the treatment of AIDS in countries outside of the United States.

Our History

Within a year it became apparent that there were a number of other drugs which fell into the same category (available in the US but not elsewhere). The need to expand the medications available beyond that of those used to treat AIDS resulted in the change of name to GLOBALRx in 1997, a trade-marked name used since that time. GLOBALRx now has 11 employees including 2 pharmacists with annual sales approaching $19 million.

Our Quality

GLOBALRx is dedicated to a process of continual improvement. Due to the changes in our industry and the risk of counterfeit and diversion, we strive to elevate ourselves beyond minimal requirements. Since 2016, we have become Good Distribution Practices (GDP) compliant. Although in the United States GDP compliance is not mandated, we chose to implement those standards to enhance our quality and patient safety. In addition, a full-time Compliance Manager to our staff and have designated our Clinical Pharmacist as the Responsible Person. Recently, GLOBALRx achieved the prestigious National Board of Pharmacy approval as a distributor, a distinction not achieved by any other similar company.

Philanthropy

Each year for the past 10 years we have given >2% of our net profits to charitable causes. This year it will be 3%. Charities supported include UN AIDS (the United Nations organization fighting against HIV), the Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Club and Camp Putnam Fresh Air Fund Camp (New Braintree, MA), Orange Countey in Missions, Partners in Health and You Can Vote. In addition, two scholarships have been established at Hampden-Sydney College in VA and the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy. Additional significant support has been provided to the Foothills Conservancy in Morganton, NC and the Carolina Mountains Conservancy in Hendersonville, NC.
